While a graduate student studying Computer
Music at Stanford's CREMA,
John Strawn was Assistant Editor for The Computer Music Journal.
He worked at PCC on other PCC publications as well, assisting in
their production. John was amazing on a number of counts. He was a
virtuoso at the typesetter keyboard, fast and accurate.
His technical skills, attention to detail, and aesthetic sense had a
major influence on The Computer Music Journal. Occasionally,
his volatile perfectionist personality would clash with others who were
less committed or less skilled and he would motivate us to change the
way things were done.
After PCC and Stanford, John went on
to Lucas Films, Yamaha Music Technologies, and his own consulting
company, S-Systems, located in Larkspur, CA. See his website,
for more information.
